The company’s namesake, John R. Gregory, who was a native New Englander, set up a small Ohio white pine sawmill in Holmes County in 1999. What began, as a hobby, would become his legacy. After he passed away in 2006, Leroy A. Yoder took over operations and has continued to honor the founder’s legacy.
John and Leroy met at opposite ends of their lives. When the two men became acquainted, John was a recent retiree who soon discovered he was not quite ready to retire. Leroy was a young mechanic eager to make his mark. Over time, both men realized they aspired to something more than a hobby sawmill or the occasional one-off job. From that shared realization, Gregory Log & Lumber Ltd. was formed, and today Leroy is leading the company with the same passion.
Joined by loader operators, lumber stackers, sawyers, molder operators and yardmen, this Ohio white pine sawmill has grown and now employs dozens of staff members and services thousands of customers across the country.
